At the link below you will find a slideshow which shows you the projects or concepts that are being formed to recreate the shoreline of Baltimore. My group and I have also showed the history of the area and what lead to the heavy pollution that is found in their waters.

The Baltimore Inner Harbor is quite a case study in socio-political interacions, opportunism and altruism all in one. The cyclical move to the suburbs is now in its 5th wave, i believe. THere is a 7-10 year phase in which the city center is evacuated out to the suburbs, further and further out in concentric rings every time. As the "inner city" falls into disrepair and property values wane, a wave of gentrification swoops over the city, depositing scads of "dual income no kids" (Hipsters)into formerly blighted areas. Although the hot spots vary, they are all oriented to neighborhoods at and around the waterfront...Canton, Federal Hill, Fells Point and the like have all experienced this phenomenon in the last 15 years.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is not pertinent to this project, but it is a great story to look into the Rouse company and the creation of the "Inner Harbor" development as it exists today.
Thank you Mr. Fastman, I agree completely with what you said over the inner city. It seems like you said with many cities, that once gentrification takes place, the trend of families with no kids seem to blossom best.
