Hello and Welcome!
My name is Alexis Rodriguez and this blog has been set up to demonstrate my work done in Design VI, if there are any questions feel free to post a comment on any post and I'll respond as soon as I can.
In this collage I wanted to demonstrate the emotions that I collected from the visits to the site, on which I strongly felt desolation. It's this emotion that the structure I will eventually create something that evokes a sense of unity.
This collage illustrates a connection between nature and human development. A multitude of studies have shown that better health and longer lives come from being active and interacting with nature. For the final project I intend to bring together both nature and human form to finalize my design.
This image I created shows elements that I believe will stand out through the addition of my Recreational Facility. In the neighborhood of Red hook, there are many types of people who can come together and really learn from one another in a way that hasn't currently been used. I intend to give all these people in the neighborhood a place to congregate where they can showcase works and show others what it is they do.
The first and third images are incredible. The descriptions were completely unnecessary as the emotion and ambiance were evoked in the image proper. Given the requirement to take these ideas and utilize them to create a building, the first collage WILL make a building that would complement the site perfectly. Likewise your third image can draw out tectonic metaphors which could inform a building. I would say that the character of these 2 images are vastly different. Synthesizing them into one edifice will be challenging without losing or compromising one or the other. The middle image, unfortunately is less successful. After reading the description and "squinting," the meaning is there...but on such a literal level that it was missed on the first blush. Either the idea itself is not abstract enough or the depiction needs some more abstraction of the concept. Think about the execution as the gestalt is spot on.
Thank you Mr. Fastman, I'm glad that you were able to read the first and third images so clearly and found the descriptions below them pointless. That honestly means a lot, I'd like to say that I've tried pulling something out of the first collage to abstractly design a feasible model from but I can not come up with something. I will be posting some images tomorrow of the models that I developed.
